Perceivly vs UserWay: monitoring without a widget
Facts checked , with sources below.
UserWay sells an AI accessibility widget that, in its words, automatically finds and fixes common issues with every page load. Around it, UserWay offers code-level fixes (Widget+), accessibility monitoring, expert manual audits, and VPATs and ACRs. UserWay has been part of Level Access since March 2024.
Perceivly is a monitor only. It adds nothing to your site: it crawls your pages on a schedule, tracks each issue until your team fixes it in the source, and produces reports and a hosted statement.
At a glance
| Feature | UserWay | Perceivly |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | An AI accessibility widget, with monitoring, audits and VPATs as further products. | An accessibility monitor: it crawls your site on a schedule, tests each page in a real browser with axe-core against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 (A and AA), and tracks every issue. |
| Script added to your site | Yes, the widget runs on every page. | None. Perceivly never changes your site. |
| Pricing | Billed annually. Widget: $490 a year (up to 100,000 page views a month) or $1,490 (up to 1 million). Pro Plus $1,190 a year with monitoring of 50 pages; Ultimate $2,490 with 100 pages. Monitoring alone: $990 a year for 100 pages up to $10,990 for 1,500 pages. | Published: Starter $29 a month (1 site, 500 pages per check, weekly), Growth $59 (3 sites, 2,000 pages, daily), agency plans $99 to $349. Annual billing is 10 times the monthly price. |
| Free option | A free trial and a free accessibility checker. | A free single-page scan without sign-up, a Free plan (1 site, 50 pages, monthly) and a 14-day trial with no card. |
| How issues get fixed | The widget fixes issues on page load; Widget+ adds code-level fixes. | Your team fixes the source code or CMS content. Each issue shows the failing elements, a screenshot and how to fix it. |
| Scanning and monitoring | Continuous scanning, sold by the number of pages (50 to 1,500). | Daily, weekly or monthly crawls. Issues are open, in progress, fixed or won't fix (with a reason), and close on their own when a check no longer finds them. |
| Manual audits and services | Expert manual audits, VPATs and ACRs (price on request). | None. Every report lists what still needs a manual review by a person. |

About overlays
The Overlay Fact Sheet, signed by more than 1,000 accessibility practitioners, states that no overlay product can make a website fully compliant with any existing accessibility standard. No automated tool can, Perceivly included: it helps you find and track the issues that automated tests detect, and lists what still needs a person to review.
