Perceivly vs Pope Tech: an alternative for agencies and small businesses

Facts checked , with sources below.

Pope Tech is a web accessibility platform powered by the WAVE testing engine from WebAIM. It checks websites and Canvas course content, and lists higher education first among the sectors it serves. Like Perceivly, it adds nothing to your site, has a free plan and publishes its prices.

The two tools are close in approach. The differences are in the testing engine, the plan limits, and the features each one adds on top of scanning.

Questions

What is the difference between WAVE and axe-core?
Both are automated accessibility testing engines. Pope Tech uses WebAIM's WAVE; Perceivly uses the open-source axe-core engine. They share many rules but report some issues differently, and neither can find every WCAG issue.
Do both have a free plan?
Yes. Pope Tech's free plan covers 1 site and 25 pages a month. Perceivly's Free plan covers 1 site and 50 pages, checked monthly, and the free checker scans any single page without sign-up.
Can Perceivly scan pages behind a login?
No. Perceivly checks public pages only and carries no cookies. If you need to scan logged-in areas, Pope Tech offers that on Business Plus and up.
Will Perceivly make my site compliant?
No tool can do that on its own. Perceivly helps you find and track the issues automated tests detect, which is only part of WCAG.
